Nakeya S.
Born to secede;
Nakeya S. is a senior at Arlee High School. All throughout high school she
has accomplished so much in such a little bit of time. Ranked in the top half
of her senior class, Nakeya’s biggest goal was to graduate and knowing that she
tried her best to get where she is going. Yet she still has a couple of months
left to go she is on the right track to reach and achieve her goal.
During her freshman year Nakeya was involved in
basketball and put all her focus on playing and her grades. She was a
well-rounded student excelling in all of her subjects and improving in her ball
skills. By the end of her sophomore year she had set herself in the top half of
her class grade wise, and still managing time to do basketball and joining two
other clubs; National Honors Society (NHS), Family Career Community Leaders of
America (FCCLA) and Pep Club. She had been honored; a letter in basketball, a
plaque, and played in both the divisional and district games.
“Always working
hard, she has always gone up and beyond what she has been asked to do, and she
has spent many hours after school to work on classes. And Nakeya is not taking
the easy route out of high school. She takes the challenging classes.” Mrs.
Auer stated about one of her beloved students and as the adviser of FCCLA she
has spent many hours with her. Mrs. Auer has spent countless hours with her
spending time helping her with her homework in an afterschool program, to
helping her on her FCCLA project. Nakeya has been involved in FCCLA for three
years and has qualified for state FCCLA all three years. Her first year she did
her project on leadership, the second year she applied technology, and this
year she is working on a community service. The community service project has been
going on for five months now and each month has a new meaning and a new focus.
Now obtaining a 3.1 GPA she is busy constantly trying
to keep her grades and managing her time for all three clubs she is in. She
knows she will graduate but she wants to know that she came out on top of the
game, and to prepare herself for the more schooling to come. She knows she must
work hard to get where she wants to go. “Nakeya is an outstanding student and
her hard work will pay off in the end.” Mrs. Auer said sweetly and softly as if
everyone already knows.
